DCT Information Management - Testimonials

Wouter Florusse

What do you like about your job?
What I like most about it is the varying nature of the work. There is not neccessarily one specialism or focus but a wide spectrum of all things graphical. Being able to be creative with all the tools at hand. It is also good to notice that people know how to find you because of your experience and being able to share that experience. Together for a better end result.

And in 5 years?
I am very drawn to all forms of interactive design, I hope to dive deeper into that subject. Development of graphic/creative software creates more and more possibilities. I can get very exited about that!

What do you do in your time off?
I am a father of two boys. These guys obviously take up most of my time. Next to that I am a musician (guitar). Music plays a big role in my life. Also I have an extensive social life, friends are very important and I spend a lot of time trying to keep up. I love to read, mostly historically correct or fantasy books/novels. Apart from all that my biggest passion is drawing and (digital) painting. Being able to let the imagination run wild. Who says escapism is a bad thing?

Most memorable DCT-moment:
One of the nicest moments I remember was giving my family a tour of the new office building. My then 4 year old son hopped onto my chair and exclaimed to want to work here when he grows up. It's moments like that which remind you why we all work hard at creating something special.

What do you like about your job?
The best thing about my job is the contact I have with translators from lots of different countries. If you use a particular translator a few times, you get to know him/her a little, which makes placing a job with someone a bit more interesting than just sending out an e-mail. I also love the variety of my work, especially projects with DTP and lots of different languages.

And in 5 years?
In 5 years’ times I hope my job is still as varied as it is today, so that I will enjoy going to work just as much as I do now. Perhaps also by that time I hope I will have acquired a bit more technical knowledge about how translation tools work, so that I can resolve technical issues as far as possible myself.

What do you do in your time off?
In my free time I like to watch detective TV shows and to read exciting books. I also like to do a bit of skating when the weather’s nice and to go away camping for the weekend whenever possible. In addition, I go to Zumba every week; the lively music and variety of dances make you feel full of energy, so I always really look forward to it!

Most memorable DCT-moment:
What I like most of all is the feeling of satisfaction you get when you complete a difficult project. With one customer in particular, the working method was quite complicated and susceptible to errors. I devised a new working method for this customer. Every time I now carry out a project for this customer, it’s great to see how much more smoothly everything is running and how much the quality has improved!

What do you like about your job?
What I like most about my job is the variation it offers between the technical aspects and the social contacts with our customers.  My job allows me to technically explore different content management systems, how to implement them and how to configure them in such a way as to optimize the result to each of our customers. But my job also enables me to go to our customers and be involved in finding the perfect solution for them from the first start of a project.
Another great aspect about DCT is the chance they gave me to take my career in a different direction. They made it possible for me to take the step from technical editor and document specialist to business consultant and my colleagues have supported me tremendously during the transition period.

And what about in 5 years time?
In 5 years I will be full-fledged business consultant. I will manage my own accounts and will help our customers with all aspects of documentation management and creation. I will also be put the DCT profile forward on many different conferences and events all over the world, where I will give presentations and find new customers from the Netherlands, Europe as well as the rest of the world.

What do you do in you free time?
If it was up to me, I would spend all my leisure time traveling. Whether it is long holiday to the far edges of the world map, city trips or camping weekends, traveling is in my blood. I am never as well rested and relaxed, as when I'm traveling, discovering new cultures and countries or sitting in the sun on a beach or campsite reading a book.

What is the best moment at DCT so far?
The greatest moment at DCT so far was the BBQ during the official opening of our new office. This was a very fun night and I really enjoy getting to know my colleagues and their families outside the workspace. I hope there will be many more of these events in our future.

What do you like about your job?
For me the good thing about working for DCT is the opportunity to conquer new challenges with the entire team. The information management industry is constantly changing and every day brings new possibilities to do business faster, easier and more extensive than the day before.

And what about in 5 years time?
In 5 years time I'll still be working for DCT along side all my current colleagues and all the colleagues that will join us in the years to come and we'll be in contact through telecommunication, because I will be working at a different location. We will all be working towards the same goals, but in ways we cannot imagine now.

What do you do in you free time?
On my days off I enjoy playing sports, especially hockey. It clears the mind and afterwards everyone has a drink together. It's a good combination between the drive for excellence and having fun. And of course the pressure of playing, even in bad weather, because you know your teammates will be there too.

What is the best moment at DCT so far?
The best moment was the day on which we moved in to our current office. I like the open spaces and the bright colors and creativity of the artwork we have in our there. It's the sort of place where you, by just looking around you, can clear your mind or find someone who can help you solve a situation.
